Opaque Words are an evolution on from the sight-words or ‘non-phonetic’ words you find in many reading programs. We look a little deeper into these words to understand the logic behind their spelling. This links children with the deeper connections within our language and helps to build vocabulary and create memorable reasons for their spellings.
